Keep praying for Fr. McGivney's canonization!  He is closer to being a saint as his heroic virtue has been recognized by the Vatican.  One more documented miracle, and he will be St. Michael McGivney, the first American-born Catholic priest!

Many Brother Knights have donated clothes for our  seminarian at Mt. Angel, Mark Gilkenyi. I took the clothes we have collected so far to him, and he was most grateful. He wanted me to pass  along his appreciation to the members of our council not only for the clothes, but for the financial support and prayers. If you have any more clothes that are in good shape (especially WARM clothes, as its cold up on that  hill in the winter), let the GK know 503-769-6847) or bring them to the meeting. He wears medium shirts and jackets, pants with waist 32, length  30 or 31, and shoe size 8.  Remember him in your prayers, and he requested  that we pray for his native country, Kenya. There has been over 1000 people killed and over 300,000 displaced from their homes there due to the political unrest!

Our council has a new fundraiser that couldn't be easier. Through a company called EcoPhones, we can raise funds for our council by collecting and turning in certain used items for cash. So, if you have or know anyone that has the following items to donate (WORKING OR NOT) please hang on to them and we will collect them and send them in. EcoPhones will take the following items, Cell phones. Ink Jet printer cartridges, VD Movies or DVD video games, Laptop/Notebook, computers, MP3 Music players, Digital Cameras, Digital Video Recorders, Digital Picture Frames, GPS Devices, Portable DVD Players, Video Game Consoles. Remember, they will take these items working or not, so if you've got some of this stuff you don't want or
are going to throw away items that are broken, throw it our way and we can turn it into cash for our council. Bring them to the meetings, call Kent Purdy (769-6847) for pickup or just hold onto them and I will hopefully have collection boxes at our parishes soon.

We are using a new phone call notification program called CallingPost.com. It is an automated phone message system that we will try for calling our members about upcoming functions (e.g Steak Frys) and when volunteers are needed. If you get a computerized phone call, don't automatically hang up! I know we all get them and we all don't like them, but it could be your council calling to let you know about some important KC events, not just someone asking for money. Hopefully this system will help get the word out and increase attendance at our functions. We are just giving this a try, so don't throw away your phone tree numbers that were sent out last year just yet. If you have any feedback or suggestions about the new system, feel free to let us know what you think.

Our council is currently looking for members to volunteer as licensed Food Handlers and Alcohol Servers for our council events. Please contact Brothers Randy Buchheit, Kent Purdy, or Kendall Smith for details.

Saint Anthony Council is the Charter Organization for the Cub Scouts, Troup 50, in Stayton. Please support the Cub Scouts.

Please Contact Brother Ron Bernt  if you would like copies of our council brochure.  They are available in black and white and color.

Please try to thank Brother Jerry Weis at Weis and Associates for volunteering to print our monthly bulletin.  This kind of support is what makes the Knights the organization they are.
