Council Bulletin

In support of our council’s Regis/St. Mary Scholarship Fund, we have decided to work with the Kiwanis at their Oktoberfest Booth.  This will hopefully generate a regular, annual source of income for this worthwhile cause.  It will take an all out effort by our members and their families to make this happen.  We are estimating the needs at 6-8 bodies per shift for three shifts each day on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  We need people with Foodhandlers Permits on each shift, more details will follow.  If you are interested in helping, have any questions or would like more information on how to acquire a FoodHandlers Permit, please contact Brother Randy Buchheit at 503-932-5101.

Our council has agreed to BBQ the hamburgers and hot dogs for the Immaculate Conception Parish annual picnic on Sunday, August 15, 2010.  The picnic begins after the 10:00 Mass.  Please contact Brother Glenn Hilton for more details or to volunteer to help.

We donated the $455.00 profits from the Mother’s Day Breakfast to the Father Taaffe Homes in Salem.

Five new brothers were initiated into the First Degree at the April meeting. We welcome to our council, Mike Basl, Damon Clute, Dennis Conrad, Gene Ditter, and Mike Duman.

We are currently selling council jackets, shirts, and caps.  If you are interested, contact Brother Kent Purdy (503-769-6847 or purdykd1@wvi.com) for more details and prices.

We have purchased a “Keep Christ in Christmas” billboard and a “Pro-Life” billboard to display along Hwy 22 near Anthony Hall.  Please take a look next time you are driving by.

Brother Randy Bentz is chairing a program for our council called Roses For Life.  We present a rose to the mother of each baby baptized in church, during the baptism, to thank them for bringing the child into our church family.

Our council is the Charter Organization for the Cub Scouts, Troup 50, in Stayton.  Please support the Cub Scouts.

Keep praying for Fr. McGivney's canonization!  He is closer to being a saint as his heroic virtue has been recognized by the Vatican.  One more documented miracle, and he will be St. Michael McGivney, the first American-born Catholic priest!

Please support our council EcoPhones Fundraiser, we can raise funds for our council by collecting and turning in certain used items for cash. So, if you have or know anyone that has the following items to donate (WORKING OR NOT) please hang on to them and we will collect them and send them in. EcoPhones will take the following items, Cell phones. Ink Jet printer cartridges, VD Movies or DVD video games, Laptop/Notebook, computers, MP3 Music players, Digital Cameras, Digital Video Recorders, Digital Picture Frames, GPS Devices, Portable DVD Players, Video Game Consoles. Remember, they will take these items working or not, so if you've got some of this stuff you don't want or are going to throw away items that are broken, throw it our way and we can turn it into cash for our council. Bring them to the meetings, call Kent Purdy (769-6847) for pickup or just hold onto them and I will hopefully have collection boxes at our parishes soon.

We are using the phone call notification program called CallingPost.com. It is an automated phone message system that we will try for calling our members about upcoming functions (e.g Steak Frys) and when volunteers are needed. If you get a computerized phone call, don't automatically hang up! I know we all get them and we all don't like them, but it could be your council calling to let you know about some important KC events, not just someone asking for money. Hopefully this system will help get the word out and increase attendance at our functions. We are just giving this a try, so don't throw away your phone tree numbers that were sent out last year just yet. If you have any feedback or suggestions about the new system, feel free to let us know what you think.

Our council is currently looking for members to volunteer as licensed Food Handlers and Alcohol Servers for our council events.  Please contact Brothers Randy Buchheit, Jerry Etzel, or Kendall Smith for details.

Please Contact Brother Ron Bernt  if you would like copies of our council brochure.  They are available in black and white and color.

Please try to thank Brother Jerry Weis at Weis and Associates for volunteering to print our monthly bulletin.  This kind of support is what makes the Knights the organization they are.
